Explores the theme of female strength and heritage, taking as its starting point monuments dedicated to heroines as powerful yet often overlooked sites of collective memory. The performance raises questions about the visibility of women in history and the ways their presence is perceived today.
Inspired by monumental forms that symbolize both endurance and oblivion, Ilić uses contemporary dance to investigate the relationship between body, memory, and space. In this choreography, the monument is not a static sign of the past, but a point of departure for scenic exploration, in which the body becomes a carrier of memory and energy transmitted through movement.
“Return to the Source” signifies a return to embodied knowledge and experience woven into cultural heritage, yet rarely articulated in a contemporary context. Through precise and expressive movement, the performance examines how strength manifests through presence, perseverance, and continuity, rather than through spectacle or domination.
Forgotten Presence / Return to the Source invites the audience to reconsider their own relationship to memory and the symbols that shape our collective consciousness, offering a contemporary dance interpretation of the female figure as a living, enduring source of strength.
