Danube Dance Alliance brings contemporary dance beyond traditional cultural centers by embedding it in local environments and abandoned public spaces across the Danube region. Through collaborations with architecture, tourism, and the performing arts, the project reactivates deserted buildings in Trbovlje, Velenje, Svetvinčenat, Belgrade, and Sarajevo as sites for site-specific dance performances created together with local communities.
Each city contributes its stories, knowledge, and resources through workshops involving residents, artists, craftspeople, companies
and educational institutions, resulting in five original dance productions. Alongside live performances, the works are transformed into immersive VR experiences, expanding accessibility and engaging younger audiences.
All five VR productions are connected into a shared virtual performance presented in 10 additional Danube-region cities. The project brings together 12 organizations from eight European countries, more than 50 international artists, and over 11,000 local participants, strengthening contemporary dance through international cooperation, cultural diversity, and innovative, sustainable practices
